We are beginning to lock the church at nights here in Puerto Quito because of a recent incident, and so far we’ve only been locking 1 of the two doors. That’s because we bought one lock. But it’s also because there are already locks on each door, but no one knows where the keys are. Padre Martin says they’re around somewhere. So, in the meantime, every night, we’ve been awkwardly placing a second lock on one door, and leaving the other door unlocked.
Well, today I decided to see if I couldn’t find those keys. We have a key board here in the kitchen. It’s got about a hundred keys of different sizes, ages, colors, with all types of fobs. The one advantage I had was that we already had the key to the new lock, and it’s the same type as the other two old ones. So I could find a match.
I fished through all the keys we had and in about 5 minutes found a few keys that were like the one for the new lock. I went to the church and tried them on the old locks. Viola! Now we have three good locks.
For the keys, I put them all on one keychain, one that has a fob that looks exactly like one of the locks. It’s not one of the locks, but it’s like a miniature exact replica. So, when we hang up the keys in the mad sea of keys and fobs in the hanger, we can immediately find the keys to the church. Just look for the fob that’s just like the locks. That’s a very important and powerful fob. That’s what gives us the keys that unlock each of the locks. That’s what helps us unlock the church for everyone.
God is Three Persons and one God. To unlock our relationships with each Person, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we need a key for each one. There are keys to the Kingdom of God. There are keys to having a relationship with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The good news is that there is someone who is attached to those keys, who identifies where they are in the middle of all the noise of life. There is someone who is just like God, a real mirror and reflection of God, like a miniature exact replica, who gives us a sign in the middle of all the brands and marketing and voices and noise of life. She is very important and powerful, because she finds us the keys that unlock relationships with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And that’s what helps us unlock the church for everyone.
If you don’t have the keys to the kingdom, or if you’ve been given them but you lost them, there’s some good news.
The good news is that there’s Mary.
She finds the keys.
“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Mt 16:19)
